Train the Trainer
Building Skills for the Local Supervisor

Tuesday 26th November 2024
9am -12.30pm (online)
£120 (per person)
Course Outline

Lack of a local supervisor for the workplace-based teaching and supervision of FEES practical endoscopy and the assessor roles severely limits the progress of the trainee FEES practitioner. Often, a suitably experienced local clinician is unwilling to commit to supervision because of lack of resources or a clear road map to the acquisition of competence.

This session provides the local supervisor with the skills and resources to design and deliver short, structured, supervised learning events and conduct formative and summative assessment so that they are confident in the trainee’s skills and knowledge and therefore able to sign off their portfolio of evidence.

Learning Outcomes:

By the end of the module the supervisor will –
  • Understand the expectations of workplace based supervision for both the supervisor and the trainee

  • Have a clear understanding of how to optimise the FEES Training Pathway

  • Be able to engage with and deliver trainee-centred learning

  • Have practised how to design workplace based training and supervision for competency progression

  • Be able to incorporate learning theory into workplace-based training

  • Be able to design learning events mapped to the specific training requirements

  • Be able to design a range of formative and summative assessment activities

  • Have the tools to confidently describe the trainee’s progress and acquisition of skills and knowledge
